Last Friday I made a 3 hour drive to put my eyes on a new LX 700 H Overtrail in earth. I had one on order, or should I say I was able to get a allocation from a dealership a lot further away from me, but I felt it was prudent that I take the time and put my eyes on one before I actually moved from a LX 600 F sport , that I absolutely love to the new LX 700 H. I made the trip with 2 major concerns : 1) cargo area 2) fuel tank size and fuel range. This is why I felt I had to make the effort to see it in person before trading for it.

Immediately when seeing it I loved the earth color and the vehicle stance. I was happy with the interior, although black is never my first choice, Although it goes well with the earth exterior color. After we agreed on a trade in value, I took it for a test drive. I was impressed with the added HP and Torque, and I was happy with the suspension feel.

After leaving the dealership I really started to think about the cargo area and the fuel tank size and it bothered me so much that I actually decided on Wednesday to back out of the purchase, then on Thursday after having a conversation with the general manager the Lexus dealership agreed that if I could not get comfortable with the cargo area or fuel tank size they would buy the vehicle back from me at a agreed upon price and get back into a LX 600 F SPORT, which I thought was very transparent and fair. The LX 600 has been the best all around vehicle I have ever owned and probably the most capable vehicle I have ever owned, so I am really hoping that the same rings true for the 700 H. As far as the cargo area I have never had the cargo area filled up all the way to the roof, so maybe this will not be a issue and I am really hoping that I liked it more than the LX 600.

After test driving the LX 700 H my first inclination was to buy it and that is usually a good sign, so lets hope I do not have to take the GM’s offer on going back to the LX 600. By the way the dealership was excellent to work with from the moment I stepped into the building and the building itself was the largest Lexus dealership I have ever been in and it is immaculate.

Congratulations on your purchase! She's a looker! --- It sounds like you have one of the good dealerships. Willing to work with you, do buy backs, etc.. that's really cool. Not many people get to say that now a days.

I hope it ends up being the best vehicle you've ever had.... you are the 2nd one here that I know if so that's awesome, you are in rarified territory!!!

I need to make a verified owner badge to replace the Deposit holder badge!

Thank You. It was a very hard decision because I REALLY LOVE THE LX 600 ! Best all around vehicle I have ever owned, from daily driving to moderate off road use to driving in 12-18 inches of unplowed snow. Awesome vehicle. Yes, I was very lucky to do business with a quality dealership and one that was transparent with me.

I am really hoping that the 700 H is at least on the same quality level as the 600 and I can live with the comprised cargo area and smaller fuel tank.

Dealership will be delivering it tomorrow and taking the 600.

Hopefully after a week or so you'll know and you can update us. I'm interested as well -- Toyota (and by extension, Lexus) has been having a tough go with some of the newer models it seems recently. Lots of recalls, engine and transmission issues. I'm hoping they are finally able to put all of that behind them.

Their support has been great and they've done well -- but it's still an inconvenience to the customer.

I agree with you on those statements, although I currently own 5 Toyota/Lexus vehicles and I have not had any issues as of yet, and the 600 sold me on the 700 if you know what I mean.

You've had a good run of luck, I hope it holds!!

Wow, congrats on the new LX! That dealership seems really cool, and it was nice of them to offer a buy-back if you're not 100% happy with it. That's A+ service in my book!

I agree. Keep in mind to be fair, I would lose a small amount of depreciation on the 700 H, BUT I was very happy that they where willing to quote me a actual depreciation number and if they have not sold my LX 600 they would sell it back to me or sell me a 2025 LX 600 F sport at a reduced price so in the end I would actually come out ahead. But I am hoping I love the LX 700 H and do not have to go down that road. It also says a lot about the confidence in the product they are selling.
